There are a number of activities that go on during the week along with the ones shown such as badminton, snooker etc.
These are shown on this page so come and join the Stourbridge Institute and join in with these activities and afterwards, if the bar is open, relax in the lounge with your friends and colleagues and enjoy a cup of coffee and maybe a bite to eat.

Barry is a Master Grade Health and Martial Arts Instructor with 54 years experience, an ex-Shiatsu Practitioner and qualified Healer.

Chi Baton® Exercises

Tuesday :  11:00 – 12:00pm & Friday :  11:00 – 12:00pm 

This is a unique exercise system invented by Barry. The exercises are based on Tai Chi, Chi Kung principles amongst others and generally consist of rhythmic, low impact movements while holding a short baton which aids posture and energetic flow. Suitable for all ages and particularly helpful for those suffering from back problems and stress related illness.. The exercises can be easily adapted to suit those with specific health problems.

Meditation / Mindfulness

Wednesday :  

10:00am – 11:00am

A class featuring gentle exercise, breathing, energy work and seated meditation. Suitable for all. This is a must for those suffering from stress or an inability to relax. Meditation/Mindfulness has been proven to lower blood pressure, and is now widely endorsed by the medical profession.

Complete Exercises

Monday :  11:00 – 12:00pm

(Zoom meeting only)

Prior to the Covid restrictions, Barry used to teach a Complete Exercise Class on Mondays 11 am till 12 pm. This class is a mixture of gentle exercise, Chi King, Isometrics, Indian Clubs and Tai Chi and has proved very popular. Unfortunately, due to present circumstances, this class is only available on Zoom for the time being, but will return to live classes as soon as possible.

Tai Chi

Wednesday :  1:00 – 2:00pm

(Zoom meeting only)

Similarly, this is also a Zoom only class at present, but will return to live classes as soon as possible. Tai Chi is a martial art using gentle, rhythmic movements and is now primarily practised as a health art.
