Table Tennis Club

Table Tennis is now very popular here in the Institute and is a game that can be played by all ages as members in their 80’s play very regularly on the two tables. The rooms are use every day of the week. Years ago, League Table Tennis was played here and that has been revived in the past few years, thanks in no part to the Committee for allowing us to transfer the tables to a larger room where two tables can be in use.

On match nights, one table is used centrally in the room and opponents regularly comment favourably of the facilities and not catching colds as can happen in some other venues.

We now have two teams competing in the Kidderminster Table Tennis League. The ‘A’ team, having gained promotion, are no in the tough 1st Division and the ‘B’ team are competing in the 3rd Division. When the teams are at home, ‘A’ team match night is on a Tuesday night and the ‘B’ team on a Wednesday, but never at home in the same week apart from a very occasional Cup Week.

Coaching is available with a former England International, Helen Lower, which is available most Tuesday evenings. This, of course has to be pre-booked with Helen as it is not included within the membership.

One of the team players are at the Institute virtually every day if anyone requires any further details od contact Ken Worton by email at maryandken46@gmail.com.
